Men finalists are known
Fred-Cunha BRA, after a 2-0 victory against compatriots Duarte-Brazão BRA, will meet Gabathuler-Wenger SUI this afternoon at 5:00 p.m. in the final. The latter won against the pair Schuetz-Schnider with a thight score: 18-21, 21-18, 15-13.

Hot Saturday rich in suspense
On the men's side, seed n°1, the Brasilians Fred - Cunha stayed on the winning streak by beating the dutch pair M. Backer – Rademaker (2-0). At the same time, the swiss pair Gabathuler – Wenger went on on the surprise streak by beating the 2nd brasilian pair seeded 2nd, Duarte – Brazão, 2 sets to 1.
But the Brasilians Duarte – Brazão rebounded by eliminating the norvegian pair K. Goranson – Skarlund (2-0), qualifiing for the first semi-final where they will play their fellow countryman.
Other surprise, the one by the swiss pair Schütz – Schnider, which ent through the loser's bracket beating compatriots Viollier – Pasquali (2-0) and the dutch pair M. Backer – Rademaker (2-1), qualifiing for the second semi-final where they will also play their fellow countryman Gabathuler – Wenger !
Switzerland and Brazil are therefore sur to be on the podium tomorrow afternoon.
On the women's side, the swiss pair Forrer-Skrivan almost made the exploit twice, in the semi-final first, leaving the victory to the norvegian Wiig – Josefsen only after the hard fought 3rd set (21-11, 19-21, 13-15), reapeated scenario in the small final where they lost for the 3rd spot against the austrian team Montagnolli – Swoboda (18-21, 21-17, 14-16).
The suspense was less present during the big final where the dutch pair Keizer – Mooren beated in 2 sets the norvegian pair Wiig – Josefsen (21-18, 21-15).

On the women's side, finalists are known
Wiig-Josefsen NOR [2] will play against Keizer-Mooren NED [3] at 5:00 p.m. this afternoon in the final. The Dutch won 2-0 against seed n°1 Montagnolli-Swoboda AUT 30-28, 21-17. In the other semi-final, the supens lasted until 15-13 in the third set where Forrer-Skrivan SUI [7] almost made the surpriseing win. [seeds in brackets]

Summary for Friday
On the men's side, the first day of the Main Draw saw, without any surprise, the seed n°1 of the tournament, the Brazilians Fred - Cunha, easily win against the german pair Beck - Winter (21-13, 21-14), then against the Americans Quinn – Fischer (21-11, 21-13).
Same ease for the second brazilian pair, seed n°2, Duarte – Brazão, which also didn't make any mistake, by beating the Swiss Waelchli – Bär (21-11, 21-15), then the Austrian Nausch – Steinhöker (21-11, 21-16).
On the swiss side, the team Gabathuler – Wenger made a surprise by beating two pairs better seeded in the FIVB classification: the Norge K. Goranson – Skarlund (21-17, 20-22, 20-18) and the Swiss Schütz – Schnider (21-19, 17-21, 15-10).
The Dutch M. Backer – Rademaker, seed n° 4, won against Norway twice by beating Wisloff – Hellum (21-18, 21-18) and Engvik – Kleivenes (21-15, 21-17, 16-14).
The men Main Draw continues tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. on Vidy-Coubertin.

On the women's side, home towner Annik Skrivan, playing with Isabelle Forrer from St-Gallen, continues to star in front of its public. After a difficult first set in the first game, this swiss pair won against the Dutch Keizer – Mooren (22-20, 21-12). This nice victory offers them a deserved spot in the semi-finals.
The other semi-finalists confirmed are the austrian pair Montagnolli – Swoboda, which won against the German Deister – Müller (21-19, 21-14) and the dutch team Keizer – Mooren which won against the Swiss Trüssel – Erni (21-11, 21-17).
And the last semi-finalists, the Norge Wiig – Josefsen, came back from the loser's bracket by beating the italian team Chiavaro – Malerba (21-16, 21-17) and the German Deister – Müller (21-17, 22-20).

Summary of the first day
First day of the Women's Tournament, which saw the austrian team Montagnolli – Swoboda stand out, seed n° 1, making no mistake against one of the swiss teams, Rohrer – Schwer. The best swiss pair, Trüssel – Erni, lost against the german pair Deister – Müller, the latter showing the good level of the tournament.
But the honour is saved on, thanks to Forer - Skrivan, seed n° 7, who pushed to norvegian pair, Wiig - Josefsen, in the looser's bracket. Let's also note the foultlee tournament of the dutch pair Keizer – Mooren, seed n°3.
The Women Main Draw goes on tomorrow starting at 1:00 p.m..
On the men's side, serious things start tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. on the beach courts of Vidy – Coubertin.

Three brasilian pairs and one olympic team signed up
This year, the International beach volley tournament - Lausanne is pleased to have three three brasilian teams: Fred/Pedro Cunha, Fabinho/Bruno and Pedro Grael/Marcello. And, for tha last official FIVB tournament before Athenes' Olympic Games, the south-african Rorich-Pockock, qualified for this international event of the year, will also play in Lausanne.

Saturday August 7th : Official After Party at the D ! Club in Lausanne
Saturday August 7th, Official After Beach Volley Party at the D ! Club, Place de l'Europe, in Lausanne : from 11:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m., free entrance for all spectators of the International Beach Volley Tournament. If you attend the women finals and the matches of the men Main Draw, you will hear the password which will allow you to enter the D ! Club for free.
