Swiss Triple in Vidy

On a bright, sunny afternoon, the two semi finals, to the sound of brazilian sambas, were played for almost the length of same time. 50 minutes for the first one won by the Swiss pair Heuscher-Kobel against their countrymen Gscheidle-Tschudi by 2 sets to 0 (25-19, 25-20).

The other Swiss pair Heyer-Egger took the best over the French pair Canet-Hamel in 47 minutes, also by 2 sets to 0 (25-22, 25-17).

A funk exhibition by the Friends of Lausanne Gym and the Fitness Holmes Place preceeded the French-Swiss final for 3rd and 4th place. Result: 2 sets to 0 (25-24, 25-18) for Gscheidle-Tschudi against Canet-Hamel.

With two female referees, the final ended, after 62 minutes of high quality play, with the victory of Heuscher-Kobel by 2 sets to 1 (25-24, 17-25, 15-12) over Gscheidle-Tschudi.

A reminder that at this 11th International Beach Volleyball Tournament, 31 teams representing 11 nations competed according to the new rule tested by the FIVB, the Rally Point System. This new system which makes the game more spectacular and more understandable, was welcomed by the large crowd present in Vidy over last three days.
