Annoucement
of the 2004 dates
Big revolutions for the International Beach Volley Tournament of
Lausanne: first because of the dates as it will take place earlier,
because of the Olympic Games in Athens, i.e. 4th August to 8th August;
then because of the formula as a Women Challenger will be held during
this same event.

And
the winners are...
...Heuscher-Kobel with 21-14 and 21-14. The world ranking logic
was respected in this game which closes this 14th edition of the Swiss
Life International Beach Volley Tournament, probably the best ever.

Heyer-Egger
third
Kjemperud-Hoidalen (NOR) couldn't make the difference against Heyer-Egger
(SUI). Losing 21-12 and 21-15, the Norge give the home public two swiss
teams on the podium.

Italy
- Switzerland in final
New surprise by the italian team Galli F.-Fenili: they easily beat
world seed number 8, the Norge Kjemperud-Hoidalen, 21-17 and 21-15.
In the other semi-final, the world logic has been respected, but not
without pain and sweat. Though, Heyer-Egger left a doubt in Heuscher-Kobel's
head till the end by only losing 21-23 in the hard fought second set.
Results are online now.

Here
are the semi-finalists
The first three top seeds will meet on Sunday August 17th on the
sand of Vidy-Coubertin in Lausanne in the semi finals that will start
at 11:30 a.m. Heuscher-Kobel (SUI - World Ranking # 6) will play against
another Swiss teams: Heyer-Egger (World Ranking # 11). In the second
semi-final, the Norge Kjemperud-Hoidalen (World Ranking # 8) will have
to give they have versus the surprising Italians Galli F.-Fenili. Results
online.

Round
of 16 starts now
Gscheidle-Vesti (SUI) finally won their ticket for the round of
16 by beating the American
team Kiedaisch-Ho. Otherwise, the three top seeds won all their games
and might therefore play only on Sunday against each other. Note that
the Swiss team Viollier-Pasquali will still play this afternoon. Results
online.

Seed
number 4 has trouble...
Surprise for one top seed: Gscheidle-Vesti (SUI) lost their second
match today versus the Italians Galli-Fenili (15-11 in the final third
set). Therefore, the top seed number 4 has to win against the American
team Kiedaisch-Ho
to hope being qualified for the next round. The three top seeds (in
the correct order Heuscher-Kobel, Kjemperud-Hoidalen and Heyer-Egger),
easily won their games during this first day of the Main Draw. All the
results are online now.

Schuetz-Reinmann,
Roethlisberger-Dougoud and Kertai-Schnider qualified
While the Swiss teams Heuscher-Kobel, Heyer-Egger and Gscheidle-Vesti
can acceed directly to the Main Draw, which starts on Friday 15th, 9
Swiss teams have played a Qualification Tournament, the host country
allowed to make 6 teams play in the Main Draw. Schuetz-Reinmann, Roethlisberger-Dougoud
and Kertai-Schnider have successfully passed this Qualification Competition.
